With the latest Beta release, whenever I try to reconstruct an Echo II SSGN I designed for the last bete release, the platform entry appears OK and shows up in the SE and the GE as an available platform with all the appropriate Platform Display entries. When I try to insert the platform into a scenario, however, I get the Error Msg displayed in the attached graphic. Also, the path mentioned in the message doesn't exist on my HD. The platform still works normally with the previous release, which I still have installed. And other platforms I've created with the latest release work normally.

Any ideas, anyone?

Rene had the same thing happen, he was not able to correct his data file and I didn't see a way either in what little looking I did. Rene went back to his last good copy of the data file, re-did his edits from there and life was good. Sounds like a good area for you to come up with a procedure to replicate. The error is telling you that there are no names for that platform listed in the DB, which happens because of a bad export, bad edit, etc.

If I understand your advice correctly, I'm going to extraxt HCDB-060614.ZIP into the parent directory and try again. That's the latest file I have, unless there's another later one out there someplace. I assume I'll need to import these files into the PE and start over. I'll give that a try.

I'll DL that and try again. When I restored the DB I previously mentioned, I was able to create and use surface platforms as usual, but no matter what I create in submarines, I get the same results (ie. the platform shows up in display, but adding it to a scenario causes the error). I used the platform I've used with the older Beta release, and another I basically just created on the fly, and got the same results.

With the latest DB download (HCDB-061203), I can still work ok with ships, mounts, etc. but it flat out refuses to let me create and use a sub. All goes well with platform display in the GE and SE, but as soon as I try to actually place the platform, I get the same error and the PE shuts down.

Now we're getting somewhere, if someone doesn't beat me to it, I'll give it a whirl Saturday. Thanks for tinkering and narrowing down the options a bit.

Thanx, Tony. This thing's really got me baffled this time. On an unrelated question, I notice the size of this Beta installation is roughly 1/3 of the last one. Assuming everything's still there, how the devil did they accomplish that? Certainly not a complaint, just curiosity as I always seem to be low on HD space these days and smaller is always better.
